Sandra Yates

Chair of Sydney Writers’ Festival since 2000. Chair of the NSW TAFE Commission Board from 1998 to 2007 and Chair of Get Reading! Sandra was Chairman of advertising firm Saatchi & Saatchi Australia from 1996 to 2004, former Chair of the Australian Council for Women and publisher of Time magazine from 1990 to 1993.

Prior to that, Sandra founded Matilda Publications Inc. with business partner, Dr. Anne Summers, raised $20,000,000 on Wall Street, and completed the second woman-led LBO in US corporate history.

Sandra is a Past President of Chief Executive Women and the YWCA of Sydney, a former board member of the NSW Major Events Board, UNICEF, Musica Viva and the Taronga Foundation. She is a Past President of the Magazine Publishers Association of Australia and former director of the Magazine Publishers Association in the US.

In June 2002, she was admitted as an Officer in the Order of Australia for services to women’s organizations, vocational education and training, and the advertising industry.
